- John believes we must create transformative relationships and be good stewards of our gifts, time, and resources to bring about the change we wish to see in the world. In addition, John believes we must nurture communities where people heal, restore, renew, empower and strengthen others through acts of solidarity, love and fellowship.
John Parker is Director of Good Work [www.goodwork.org], a community economic development organization with a mission to help people strengthen themselves, their families and communities by training and coaching motivated individuals who want to start, strengthen, or expand a business, enterprise, or organization.
John serves on the board of the Beloved Community Center [www.belovedcommunitycenter.org], stone circles [www.stonecircles.org] and the Advisory Board of Bartimaeus Cooperative Ministries [www.bcm-net.org]. He also shares ideas and resources for strengthening community on www.johnparker.blogspot.com.
John's work experience includes directing the Triad Regional Office of the Self-Help Credit Union [www.self-help.org], research and teaching cultural and applied anthropology at the University of Memphis, and extensive ethnographic research in Central America and the U.S. American South. A North Carolina native from Moore County, he received his masters in applied anthropology from the University of Memphis and bachelors at Wake Forest University.
John is a resource on small business development, entrepreneurship, community economic development, cross-cultural leadership, stewardship, community investing and social change philanthropy.
