I was interviewed by Mary, did not get that job, but ended up getting the position she had had when she passed away. I'd like to think I have filled her shoes but know that that is not possible.

It is good to find you in this community - the only Anthropologist in Fresno among members of SFAA.
When I first arrived in Fresno in 1994 I just walked into Dr. Ludwig's office with some questions, and although she was rather busy and told me so, three hours later she urged me to return once I concluded essential parts of my work. When I did, she had passed away. I was very saddened by that because she was a wonderful human being and consummate professional.
I shall make use of the 'friend' feature here, if that is ok with you, and perhaps one day we can find some time to 'talk shop'.
