- I was raised in Norristown, PA and most recently lived in Northern California
- About Me:
- I am a medical anthropologist who is very interested in social aspects of behavioral change and human motivation. My focus is chronic disease in the US -- the classic "diseases of lifestyle" such as diabetes and hypertension. I have an educational background in public health and much work experience in medical education so thinking about these issues holistically is important to me. I have done research on hypertension management in San Francisco bus drivers and I'm starting a project on diabetes educators in North Texas. I'm also interested in "the social lives of immune systems" (borrowing from the title of James Wilce's 2003 book); I think the social aspects of behavior change is related to this.
