Tim W. Patterson is a member of the Lower Nicola Indian Band that belongs to the Nlaka’pamux Nation located in Southcentral British Columbia. He was educated at the University of Lethbridge (Anthropology). He has held research positions with Statistics Canada, the Canadian Unity Council, and with the Urban/Northern Aboriginal Head Start programme of Health Canada, prior to which he held child welfare positions at a number of First Nations throughout Alberta. Currently an Aboriginal Programs Coordinator with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary, his research interests include Aboriginal ways of knowing; narrative and tradition; and the creation and maintenance of contemporary Aboriginal identity.
