Ah! I went there about 15 years ago and stayed at a place called "Ladera". It's in the hills (jungle!), and the rooms were completely open in the back - no back wall. I loved it, despite seeing a tarantula the size of a Cadillac on the wall. Don't know if it's still there (Ladera), but like you, I'd go back in a second! Where did you stay?
