The SfAA podcast project is run by anthropology students. The SfAA podcasts are audio recordings of selected sessions from the Annual Meeting of the SfAA and made available, for free, on www.SfAApodcasts.net
I am a cultural anthropologist with a specialty in medical anthropology. I have spent the last 15 years investigating cultural responses to disability issues. With the exception of my dissertation research, all of my work has been participatory/collaborative. I have worked extensively in Mexico (primarily Oaxaca), Native North America, and the U.S. as a whole. Currently, I am a research associate at the Institute for Human Development at the University of Missouri Kansas City. In the past few years I have become very interested in communities of practice and the promise they hold for enabling real dialog between the various stakeholders in the disability (and now anthropological) world.
